Which emulsion to use?

Hey I have another emulsion question for you pros. A friend of mine keeps trying to get me to switch to the pre-mixed stuff that exposes really fast instead of the one I have to mix the developer into myself and takes 5+ minutes on the light box. He says that when its exposed its much harder and doesn't swell up when it gets wet in the wash like my stuff does, but the "Screenprinting 101" video says beginners should stick to the slow stuff. Opinions?
