heat gun drying times - help!

Hi
I'm just starting out as a hobbiest, and can't afford a flash cure unit.
I was wondering what sort of heat gun I would need to get me through, and how long I need to use it on waterbased ink when flashing an underbase?
Also, is ironing preferable to a heat gun when curing waterbase ink. I understand it's not ideal, and my aim is to get a flash cure unit, but in the meantime...?
