Screen coating choices

Post by tcwaters »

I have been printing at a facility, where you hand them a transparency, and they coat, and expose the screens for you. so, they coat as they have selected to, which I believe is a sengle pass on the substrate side of the screen. Now, I'm moving to use a studio where I have to coat and expose my screens. The facility provides the emulsion, and has some recommended settings for the exposure unit. They are suggesting a single pass on the substrate side too. But I've watched a bunch of videos that recommend two passes, first on the substrate side, and then on the inkwell side.

Can sometone talk aboiut the pros and cons of these two different methods (one pass on the substrate to a 1 and 1), and how a two pass approach alters the exposure time?
