Newbie screen printer needing help please

Post by frankieapples »

Hello,

I'm new to screen printing so am still learning the ropes. I've printed a few simple designs onto t-shirts but now I need to reclaim the screens. I was given something to strip the screen in my kit but after hours of scrubing it's not done any good.

Can anyone reccommend the best way to do this? And the best tools. Oh and if anyone knows of a good supplier in Bristol (UK) that would also be awesome, i've looked about online but can't find anyone.

Thank you
Frankie

Hi Frankie: First clean all ink from the screen with Screen Wash (Solvent). Dry the screen then degrease the screen. The solvent from cleaning out the ink is preventing the Waterbased Emulsion Remover from getting to the emulsion. Do not use any strong solvents on the emulsion, like acetone, lacquer thinner or xylene. If all else fails, take the screen to a Self Serving Car Wash and with the pressure washer, remove the emulsion.
