Hi,

I am a newbie on this forum and I am happy I found it, looks very informational.
My question is about copyright on using images of famous people.
I am planning to do double portraits of dead artists, like in the example I attached of Keith Haring and Frida Kahlo.
Can I use these images in this form without breaking the copyright law? If no, how do/did artists like Warhol and Mister Brainwash deal with this.

Two infringements for the price of one!
There are copyrights - those are owned by the photographer and you are infringing those. There are also the rights of publicity - those are owned by the celebrities, you cannot benefit from others likenesses.

As an artist I say DO IT until someone makes you stop.

As a business man I say you need to measure the risk vs. reward. Is it worth it?
If its small and local you more then likely wont have a problem.... but if it catches on and someone notices they are going to have their hand out.
