Hello all, I know next to nothing about screen printing, but I would really like to make shirts that look like they have been water colored. Is there any way I could do this (or have a company do it for me) that would mimic the subtle differences in color without it costing an arm and a leg for 15 different screens?
Has anyone ever tried watering down the ink or something? Maybe something with discharge?

Re: screen printing experiments
A heat transfer would be the easiest and cheapest. Some computer printers accept iron-on paper and the easiest thing to do would be to print on iron-on paper and iron it on following the instructions. I believe you could only do this on on a white shirt.
Another option would be DTG, Direct to Garment digital. It is still pretty expensive but probably cheaper than process color screen printing.
I'm biased but I think actual screen printing is the most durable if done right but It would probably represent the water color the worst.
