I'm looking for the right equipment for printing small plastic signs for indoor use.
The signs should be produced on demand and in quantites of one to five.
There should be a minimum of effort involved in producing the signs.

What is the correct equipment for me?
Is there some sort of inkjet printer that can print on 2mm plastic?

Please five me some advice.

There are inkjet printer that can print directly to substrate as well as inkjet printers that print to roll material (banners, psa vinyl, etc.). They are not cheap, I paid almost 20k for my Seiko solvent printer. The flatbed printers are considerably more expensive. Small quantity work is not suited for screenprinting. Perhaps you should consider subbing the jobs out until you are positive you have enough work to warrant the purchase?
