Cleaning Squeeges

Post by Patsiesus »

Just wanted to see what you all do. Do you clean each squeegee after each job? or do you have dedicated squeegees for each color? I clean after each job, but it takes time and money with the wipes we use to do so, just wondering if there is something better to do that will save money and keep production numbers up. Thanks for you help and time.

Clean after every job. A parts washer is a good cheap way to keep them clean. A bucket with a paint brush and mineral spirits will work in a pinch. When done, a clean wipe will finish quickly.

Followup question:
In a parts washer, what is the best (and most cost effective) solution to clean plastisol from squeegee and screen. Ink Wash at $18-20 per gallon?

Mineral spirits, then pressure wash and remove stencil. I use a haze remover before final wash in spray booth.

It depends on the ink. Plastisol you can put aside for other jobs of the day. For water based I suggest cleaning the squeegees after every job.
