Ink jet printing with a screen printed uv flood

Post by aust1025 »

Has any tried to print off of a UV dried ink jet printer and putting a flood of white with 305 - 355 mesh screen?
Im having adhesion issues and wondering if anyone has had any success?
My substrate is .010 velvet polycarbonate.

Thanks.

I print over indigo printed inks all the time using Norcote NBW 1046 with 5% 067 adhesion modifier this is a UV cure ink. I use a 305 34 micron PE mesh. It has a 24HR post cure before you get total adhesion. Also you can try Nazdar 9600 series ink with 7% NB 72 catalyst this is a solvent based ink system I would recomend using a 230 PE mesh for opacity this ink is very translucent. I use this ink to print over off set printed graphics that are UV inks. I hope this helps.

We have been using the nazdar 3400 series with the nb80 catalyst and we're holding ok.
It does seem to take three days for a complete cure though.
I am going to order some of what you mentioned and give it a shot.

We have an Indigo as well as an Oce ink jet. We're trying to get more to the Oce
but with the flood adhesion issues we're a bit leary.

thanks for the advice, i'll let you know how we made out.

Too much catalyst in your ink will make it take forever to cure.

We're using 5% and it seems to be working pretty well.

I have tested the 3400 series as well you can speed up your cross link by baking your sheets at 200F for about 30 min.
