Exposing with Ulano QFX emulsion...i have issues

Post by metromerch »

i have switched to ulano qfx recently and have been having some problems. i cant find any specs on the exposure time for the rig i have built. im using a 500 watt halogen at 14inches from my screen and exposing for 4 minutes. when i wash the image out i get strings of emulsion that have washed out of the unexposed areas and some unexposed areas are completely washing out...mainly when i do half tones. when i coat my screen i use the sharper edge of my scoop and put 1 layer on front and back. i feel like im under exposing but im just not sure at this point. i would do a step test, but id rather just hope that someone here might be able to shed some light on the subject. cheers!
