Is there an easy way to convert photoshop file to a vector type without redoing it?

you could use LIVE TRACE in Illustrator but it really depends on the file

Can you show us the photoshop file?
.... I can give you my opinion but I can't tell you if it's right or not.

I'm not sure how can I show you the Photoshop file but here is an image of the logo which my friend wants to print on a magnet so he can put it on his truck. Originally came from his web site.
This is part of the logo. Name and phone I can finish using illustrator.
I wish there was an easy button, save as vector :D

Although you can work with vector shapes in Photoshop, Photoshop itself is a pixel/raster based program. You cannot take an image created in Photoshop and just save it as a vector file. When you save the Photoshop image to one that can be printed, you would be flattening all your layers and rasterizing (converting to pixels) any vectors that you used. It's the nature of Photoshop.

You would need Adobe Illustrator to truly create vector-based images. There is a free alternative, it's called Inkscape.
