cleaning squeegee and screen

Post by bkyard »

After you have printed using the Nazdar 7900, what do you use to clean the screen and the squeegee?

Are there any other places or links that I can get more information on printing on Coroplast?

coro printing

I'm printing a few thousand 18x24's the next two days, what can I do for you? Also, you may want to try Melray.com for coro ink. I recently started using their inks instead of 7900 and they work fine, same cleaners, retarders, etc work on both. Their price is drastically cheaper than Nazdar and their rep (Rhonda) is very knowledgable and willing to help in any way.

As already mentioned, the standard method is to use xzylene. But several years ago a master screen printer put me onto a spray-on product that, with water, converts Nazdar 5500 ink (also a solvent-based ink) into a solution that dissolves in water. Just clean your screens in a sink and wash it all down the drain (can't vouch for the non-toxicity of the solution you're washing down the drain). It works like a charm with no xylene fumes. It's "Screen Wash - 1100" from Advanced Color & Chemical, Mountain View, CA, 650-968-8183. I hope it's still available.

There is also a company in Corona, Ca by the name of CCI chemical
that sells safer solvents that can be used in spray form that break
down u.v. and solvent based inks. Much better than Xylene or other
petroleum based products. If you contact them they will send you
samples to work with.
