Epson 1400 help

Post by jseikel »

I'm just starting the screen printing business and I have talked to a lot of "salesmen" and they tell me I need rip software. My question is if I buy this printer can I put all black ink in it and it work?

I use corel, will i be able to print half tones with it by simply changing some print settings or is the rip software a must have?

Also will the oem ink work or should i get a special kind/brand?

Thanks for the help

OEM ink will work, it doesn't need to be absolutely black since we are working in the uv not the visible spectrum.
It will not do halftones, you need a postscript printer or RIP for that. Try Ghostscript/Ghostview for a freebie.

There's a different chip on the back of each of the color cartridges, so simply putting all black cartridges in wouldn't work. However, you can empty all of the color cartridges and then fill them with black ink, but this can be tricky. But no, you don't need the rip software unless you want to easily print halftones.
