Epson Artisan 1430 problems

Post by monticellopando »

We've been using a Epson Artisan 1430 now for about 6 months to print our transfers on Vortex inkjet film with no problems. It has now started just running the sheets through without printing. It'll still print on regular paper. As anyone else started having these problems with their 1430?

Here's Epson's response-
Thank you for contacting Epson regarding your Artisan 1430. It is my pleasure to respond to your inquiry.

Technically, film printing is not supported by this printer. What is occurring is that a sensor in the printer is looking for white paper and not seeing it. As a work around some customers have found success by placing masking tape on the leading edge of the media or loading it simultaneously with a white sheet of paper behind the film.

I asked if it had something to do with a software update? They responded:
The issue you are experiencing is hardware related, so a software update of any sort does not have any bearing on the issue. Sensors become weak overtime from normal wear and tear, but if it picks up white paper just fine, then it's within spec.
