Any comments on a Caps brand screen printing manual press

Post by Eric »

I'm getting ready to add a new manual press to my business. I currently use a table top model which has worked fine for the last year and a half . I have been doing embroidery for 17 years now but I am a novice screen printer. The sales person at Caps screen printing equipment has given me a great price on a 6-4 but I'm not sure about the quality. I plan on keeping this press for a very long time. I would love to get a Antec 6-6 press which I know is very nice but it cost 3,000 dollars more. Does anyone own a Caps printer that can let me know how well it works. Also there is a used 6-6 Workhorse for sale here in town I'm not sure but it looks about 10 yrears old is used equipment that old worth the time and money. Thanks, Eric[/b]

Call Rick Ramirez at Suncoast Screen Printing supply in Clearwater. He is experienced with the CAPS press and most other presses for that matter. He will give you the straight scoop on manual presses.

Good Luck!

CAPS is a good quality press. Any particular reason for a 6 color press? Unless you have an immediate & consistent need for a 6 color setup, it is almost not worth the investment. Especially if your are new to screen printing. More than 4 color jobs are rare for general manual screen printing. Artwork also becomes increasingly complicated at 5+ colors as well. I find that most schools and small businesses won't spend the extra $$ for 5+ color art/setups. I would recommend buying a good 4/4 and a quality flash cure unit. If you run into 5+ colors, job it out to an automatic shop that can 4 color process. Good luck in your new adventure!
