How to clean micro-adjustments?

Hi, I'm a new member, just signed up today. I use a six color, four station Harco press. There are three micro-adjustments on each station which are essentially turnbuckles. The problem is that there is a certain amount of 'play' in several of them so that as I begin to turn the adjuster in either direction there is either a delay, as if the threads have to 'catch up' or the head actually moves slightly in the opposite direction before 'catching up' and then jerking back in the intended direction. It is not my press and I have little maintenance experience so I am hesitant to disassemble the adjusters to examine and clean them in the hopes that they can be tightened up. This problem has cost me a LOT of time on press and I am very eager to solve it, so any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks, Mark

Have an old manual M&M myself for textiles. Never use the micros, always just set my screens by hand and tighten into frame.
