easiest spinning manual press

Post by jamie »

We are getting a new 6/6 manual press. At the moment it looks like a Vastex 2000. I personally would like an easy spinning press and one that will stop on its "stopper" if you spin it just right. We had a Hix that would do that - it had a urathane type ball and the press arm would roll on to it. I haven't tried a M&R Chameleon. I've read a lot of favorable remarks on it. It does seem to be considerably more $ than the Vastex. Also, I'd like a press with plattens that don't require pre-heating under a flash unit to start a job. I can't get ink to flash on these cold plattens without warming them up first.

I got a V2000 and love it .........I also upgraded mine from a 6 to an 8 color...... money well spent.....I've also heard that chameleons are very heavy...one of my friend works in a competitor's shop.... and he said they bought was heavier to spin that whatever old press they had still in production.... A lot of folks say a it was built as a "sampling" press as opposed to one meant for day-in... day-out production but I have never heard any real complaints from anyone who bought one...
