Screen printing using acrylic paint + medium

Post by knowltona »

I have recently begun screen printing at home, having experimented a lot with the technique while I was studying art at school. Previously, I used acrylic paint mixed with acrylic screen printing paste to make it viable to use on a silk screen and this worked perfectly well and was a lot cheaper than buying a set of screen printing inks.
However I only used this method on paper (or thick card as paper tended to crinkle). I am now experimenting more with fabric - although I am using both, and wanted to know if this method still worked on fabric - I am making tea-towels + pillows. I understand that you will have to cure the fabric so that the ink will stay on the fabric after washing.
I also wondered what medium people would recommend, and whether anyone has used both screen printing inks and acrylic + medium and if they had a preference.
Thanks for your help.
