Gorilla Marketing

Post by ROADSIDE »

So...
I know that I kinda put myself out there for people on this forum.
So most of you know I am general a casual dude that likes to share my experiences.

What do you all think of GUERILLA MARKETING?

I have some competitors in town and most of us just respect the others space....
But the last few days I have noticed SEVERAL signs advertising cheap shirts on every corner near my shop.
They even had the balls to put one in front of my building. I thought that was just wrong.
Now you would think it would be a local competitor but its not, its someone from another part of the county.

Am I being targeted by this company? If so should I call them out on it?
I could easily cover their entire town with signs but that would just make me a scumbag like them.

I am not going to out the company that did it just because they must really need the money cause they are selling their shirts for next to nothing. DUMBASS!

If by chance the companies owner would like to talk to me... before I begin my new viral marketing
my # is easy to get... better yet come on in and lets chat.
.... I can give you my opinion but I can't tell you if it's right or not.

Yeah, it kinda sounds like they are getting aggressive. However, we are living in a democracy so it is a "dog eat dog" country. I say dont get mad, get even.

Could these be illegal roadside signs? Report them to the county. Putting a sign directly in front of your shop is an a**hole thing to do and was probably done by the lowest paid person they have who knew no better. Make a call to let the owner know what his idiot shop boy is doing and ask him to stop. If he/she is a jerk to you, report the illegal signs. If that doesn't work, print up a load of coro yourself and have some fun when the other guy blows his top. Entertainment is where you find it!

Yeah... since monday I have found 8 signs within 2 miles of my shop.... The shop that is putting them out is over 20 mile away.
I informed my delivery guy to be on the look out for more... I armed him with an industrial trash bag and a coro knife.

I thought about calling the shop in question but at the moment I have nothing nice to say to them.
If this aggressive marketing continues I will out them on this forum.... just so everyone knows who is nice and who is not.

I am not even the biggest shop in my area... but the way the signs were placed was not cool.
I know I do REALLY NICE WORK and I know that THEY DONT!

I could see this situation getting worse before it gets better.

My employees want to make the exact same signs with lower prices and our phone number....
but I explained to them we do CUSTOM WORK not DISCOUNT WORK!

If these guys want to work for free..... let them. We will still be here when they go under.
.... I can give you my opinion but I can't tell you if it's right or not.

My wife says I'm evil. Print up signs exactly like them with their correct # and change the price to something that would put anyone out of business. i don't know, how about a buck a shirt, no minimum, full color with a pocket. The phone calls alone should drive them nuts. Maybe she's right.

So..... I found more signs again today. Not in the same spots but still closer to me then I like.

I also did some recon on the person putting the signs out... besides that fact they are selling there good for nothing, their work SUCKS!

If this madness dont stop I will be taking viral action.... (just as soon as I am done doing my taxes)

I thought about doing that.... but I decided that I would just take every sign I find (since its NOT legal to put them out in my town)
I am currently using them as shingles for the play house I am building for my kids.

Thanks GTM Signs for being such a low ball company. Your signs make great shingles!

The problem with undercutting competion by a huge margin, is its BAD for ALL of us...it only hurts them. I often see shops try to under price me or send out flyers (practically giving shirts away). Cool you can steal some business from me but how come your shop has a going out of business sign on the window? or maybe thats just a marketing trick...hanging flyers outside on streets is just giving skateboarders somthing to rip off when the skate by, if you are not even gonna go into a business and present a legit offer then why even print the propaganda?

yeah my competition is falling like dead trees in the forest.
First they new sign shop that opened up and under cut me.... they lasted 1 year

The only problem my business has is the building we are in SUCKS. Once our new building is done... WATCH OUT!
