When someone wants an extremely opaque print I sometimes print the stencil twice with the same screen. I use a finer mesh, say 255/280, and stroke once, flash for 5 seconds, and stroke again before curing. Is this common practice, or do people usually prefer to use a white underbase? (which I do sometimes also.) Seems to save a screen and looks just fine. I usually hear people recommend an underbase.
Of course the only time I do this is when using the Colormax One Stroke Ink series -- high opacity. I'm more interested in hearing other people's techniques as I am mostly self-taught.
I charge for the double stroke! People dont like it but I have samples of NO UNDERBASE vs. WITH UNDERBASE
Normally they want the underbase are willing to pay the extra money.
.... I can give you my opinion but I can't tell you if it's right or not.
True that it is easier to have same screen as base and top coat it is worth experimenting with using a white base and different screen for colour.
Use a finer mesh for the top coat and check the look against a print done the one screen way.
