Does anybody have any tricks they use to get a consistent above the pocket print on an automatic press, without having to buy new pallets?

Depending on how fast you can load accurately, a square of aluminun can be spray glued to pallet and you can feel it through the shirt to get proper placement. I would recommend a proper pallet for pockets though.

Do you actually print on the square of aluminum or does that just show you where the top of the pocket goes?

Print on the aluminum. The top of the pocket goes flush with the bottom of the aluminum.

I use a laser-line to shoot a beem across the board where the top of the pocket needs to be (laser level or whatever secured near the press, shooting on the board at the loading station). Setup takes seconds versus putting a square on all your boards.

Ok heres a super trick all the others suck, first you find crushed blanket (its a material almost like rubber) comes in a roll ,
cut into a square a bit bigger than you image . once youve cut enough for all of your pallets your good for your next above the pocket job. Print the base of the image on all pallets . then tack and cover image(center) with the squares then you have a little raised area where the image is
