I am a self proclaimed Corel idiot

That said, I have an abundance of programs I use to open files and convert them to eps

People love acrobat files (pdf) I get more now than ever before, I open them in Acrobat and save as eps because Corel "gets" that

I hate  Microcrap Word

Word files never ever do what they're supposed to

By the way, Adobe has owned Corel for a couple of years now

Definately Illustrator. Wouldnt use anything else...and then import into Photoshop for finishing touches.

The majority of my work on http://www.helenaldous.co.uk is created using these two pieces of software.

I believe the question was VECTOR based software. Photoshop is not a vector program. :D

I use freehand becasue thats what I learned on. I also have Illistrator but i haven't figured it out yet. I guess for me freehand work well enough for the things I need to do with it. Sucks though, its hard to find anyone else that has experance with it.

We use both Illustrator and Photoshop. We get by just fine with photoshop though. Just make sure all artwork in Photoshop is at least 300 res at the size you or your customer wants the printed image at. Majority of our customers come to us with artwork at 72 resolution which we then have to vector trace.

I too chose CorelDraw just because I'm not as familiar with the trace option from Illustrator, even though I haven't worked with Corel since '05 and have been using Adobe ever since...just have never had a need to use the trace feature in my area of business.

Looks like I will be using it more often now, so I will be using Adobe from this point forward.

i think adobe illustrator will be a best option for those who want to have specialized software that can make your printing attractive and if you do not want to use adobe illustrator then corel draw will be the second best option even it is slightly cheaper from illustrator.
