I use an epson 7600 pro and an Xante Colour Screenwriter to make all my film seps.

What do you use and do you like it?

Epson 3000 w/FastRip on some cheap-0 film from Northwest Graphic Supply for high-end seps

HP LaserJet 5000N on vellum for simple spot color.

I hate 'em both. I'd be much happier if the shirts would just print themselves.

Epson 2200 that is going to the shop because it won't print. In the meantime it's the laser printer with the paper vellum. Our printer isn't happy right now!! That stuff exposes and blows out like crap.

We use an Eco Pro. Absolutely love it. I have heard good things about the Epsons too.

We use a Epson 3000 wide format printer with a standard Epson 3000 black ink cartridge. We print through FastRIP software out of Adobe Illustrator for spot color jobs. When printing out of Photoshop for simulated process color we use FastFILMS for compositon of art, a Adobe Photoshop plug-in. We print on FastPOSITIVE 13" by 18" transparent film using the transparency setting on the Epson 3000.

The FastPOSITIVE FILM yeilds excellent registration on multi-color jobs and
the Epson printer makes for good black ink opacity on the film positives for great exposure on our metal halide exposure unit. The Epson produces good halftones too.

This system seems to provide a good value mix of high quality at a moderate cost.

I hear alot of people say the FAST products are just FAST at wasting your money?

As a computer guy first... I say why have 10 apps from 1 company?
All in ones are better...... just my opinion.

less apps less problems.

I'm not a fan of the FAST products either, or the Fresners for that matter. I've seen too many nOOBs suckered into buying their crap, only to chuck it down the road.

I use another company.
They have Linotype Hell Herkules Pro imagesetter and Delta RIP.

We use California VellumTM 13 x 18.5(888 276 5486) printed on a GCC Technologies Elite XL 20/600 laser printer(800 422 7777). Paper and printer works awesome and alot less expensive than high cost ink jet printing and film. We run process, simulated process and spot colors.

We`re using a Epson 4000 with regular Epson inks on Agfa SelectJet clear film. Halftones output with Ghostview+Ghostrip.

I am using a epson 9500 with AGFA Selectjet Film.
The RIP I use is Photo Print DX V4.6, its not too bad.
The film exposes as good as image setter film.

Epson pro 5000

We just picked up a epson pro 500 with a efi rip. Our OS is Mac X.

We have the computer and the rip communicating, But once the rip "rips" the job, we get an error message " Printer Not Connected"....

And the obvious......yes the printer is connected via. serial cable.

The rip has software version 1.22, Like I said, I thought that we had it figured out, and this........ Man its always something. We presently are using a HP 5000 with frosted vellum. not bad but sometimes the opacity isnt dark enough...

So is it worth the change, going to the epson vs. the HP?

Any reco for us in ordering 12 x 18 film for the epson?

Thanks,

I am outputting film positives using an AGFA SelectSet Avantra 30E Imagesetter with an Eagle RIP and developing them in a G&J Devotec processor. Overkill, but I also use it for producing flexo plates...

I use an Epson R1800, works beautifully. And of course, I use our own branded waterproof film. ;)

I have a buddy that prints them for me with his wide format HP. I'm thinking about purchasing the 7800 package from silkscreeningsupplies.com but a little hesitant. I'm going to see if they can send me some samples. Anyone out there have this same configuration?
