I was thinking about tearing apart an old oven and getting the element out of it.

A company called Black Box make a good infra red heater suitable for a flash dryer.

Thanks. I dug around on the web some but didn't seem to locate them.
So it has to be an Infra Red?

Infra red will give you even heat across the panel.

A calrod will have hot and cold spots.
