Registering multiple print layers

Post by BoliMan »

We are now trying to print multiple layers where registration of the layers is critical. what are some tips and tricks of doing registrations? How do I see the reg marks thru the screen - they are difficult to see. Plus, after you have printed a couple of layers the original reg mark gets obscured as each layer may be a little bit off. My machine operator also said when he drops the screen down to touch the print surface (glass) and lines up the reg marks, when he raises the screen to get ready for printing it throws something off and does not print on the mark.

Right now we are doing it manually on our automatic press. Later we want to use some sort of automatic registration pin system, but for now we just want to know how do basic reg.

Put a piece of clear tape on every screen after the first over the reg. mark on print side of screen. You can see thru the tape and it won't overprint your marks.
