Emulsion washing out

Post by Eskay »

I've been a self-taught hobbyist for several years now, and this is the first time I've encountered the problem I'm having.

I'm using the Diazo Emulsion Kit. I mixed the Sensitizer with the Emulsion, as usual. The Emulsion turned from blue to green, like it normally does. I coat the screen, let it dry, expose my artwork... all how I normally do it without any problems. But then when I put the screen under the hose to wash out the artwork, all of the emulsion turns back to blue and washes out.

The first time, I thought I must've made a mistake. The second time, I tried washing with colder water, but got the same result. The third time, I exposed the screen a third longer than I usually do, and got the same result.

Any ideas what the problem might be? Could it just be a bad bottle of Emulsion?

Yep, sounds like a bad batch. Call the manufacturer and have them check the date to see if it died on a shelf before you bought it.
