Ink smearing

Postby PippiL » Fri Dec 12, 2014 9:42 am

Hello… I am in need of direction on the best way to control the rubbing off of ink when printing on fabric. I have read up on many solutions
such as using matte black, washing off excess ink, varnishing media after printing, etc…

I am curious if anyone can help me out in what is the best approach in tackling this problem.

The fabrics I am using are burlap and canvas. I am using the cannon IPF6400.

Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

So you are using a 24" inkjet to print direct to fabric?

Yes, the graphics look great but there is an issue with ink rubbing off.

I bet there is. That isn't what that machine is made to do. Sounds like you need to print heat transfer or go dye sub depending on your end product

Learned yesterday, I need to use FabriSign fabric for pigmented ink.
Did not know that and I thought I read up on everything I need to know. How about I would do a canvas screen print for wall covering, would I have to put a coat on afterwards ?
