Process black vs. normal water based black

Post by dearadamsmith »

Hi everyone. New to the board.

I'd like to start experimenting with CMYK process printing. I'm stocking up on process inks and I have a question about black. Is it necessary to use process black, or can I get away with my Nazdar water based black? What is the difference? I'm making art prints on paper.

Thanks!

Process inks tend to be translucent so that you can see the other colours underneath and you get some blending, black is not usually very translucent so it shouldn't make a vast difference.
