Information about chemicals/emulsions

Post by premiumblue »

Hello,

My name is Berend an I live in The Netherlands.
I just bought a second hand screenprint-caroussel inclusiv a bunch of screens, ink and other chemicals.

I did a 3 day screen-printing class to learn to screenprint. This went verry wel, but we didn't get very deep in the meaning of all de chemicals.

My problem at this moment is i don't know which function some chemicals have.
For example there is a bucket with the folowing text:

Dirasol 916

By Google I found this information:
http://www.sericol.com.au/uvscreen/addi ... lsions.htm

If I understand it right this is the uv-emulsion which has to be smeared over the screen to be highlighted ?

Thanks for any reply. I will sure be here moaning around about al kind of beginners-stuff

You are correct it is a screen emulsion. You have the correct idea Google the chemicals and you should be able to find out what they do. If not then try Googling the company name if that don't work dispose of it. Always remember try and get the technical data sheet and MSDS sheet for your chemicals. So you know what to do with them and how to handle them to me this is a must.
Hope this helps please feel free to ask your questions.
