Problems with emulsion printing

Post by mrjardine »

Hi all, I have had a look through the forum to see if there are any threads relating to my problems but can't seem to find any, so apologies if this is going over old ground...

I've just started screen printing with emulsion and everything seemed to be going fine until the actual print when the ink didn't pass through the screen. Can anyone advise on why this might be? Details below…

I coated the screen with the Diazo photo emulsion - about 24 hours before exposing (it was stored in a dark place). I exposed the screen with a 150 watt photoflood bulb, although it was fitted in a 75w max lamp, for 10min - would the maximum wattage of the lamp effect the brightness of the bulb? Although the image wasn't visible immediately after exposure it was clear that the image had burnt in once I'd washed it out but like I said when I came to print the ink wouldn't pass though...

I'm sure there's a catalogue of errors here so any help would be gratefully appreciated!
