How to dry ink for multiple layer prints?

Post by sansocal »

I'm new to this, in fact I haven't even made the machine yet. I'm stuck on one thing: If I'm going to be making multiple 4-layer shirts, how do I dry the ink so I can print the next layer. ( I don't want to be waiting 30 minutes in between layers and make 60 shirts )

So what I am asking is there ink that either A.) dries by evaporating or B.) dries under UV or IR light Thanks for your help! Zak

What kind of machine are you building? There are waterbased inks that dry by evaporation, there are plastisol inks that cure by IR heat, there are UV inks that cure by UV light. You need to begin with a book like "How to Print T-shirts for Fun and Profit" that cover the basics of screen printing then go from there. God Bless.

Use plastisol ink and flash (partially cure) each layer of ink before printing the next using a flash dryer. If the layers of inks aren't touching, you can sometimes print wet on wet so you don't have to flash inbetween colors.
