Problems with 4 color index separation

Post by manicprints »

I'm doing an index separation using R-film for output on an epson 1400 using accurip, Ive done other index seps but none with this continuous of a halftone here are my specs:

4 color index seperation using in this print order wet on wet black grey white flash orange.
166 dpi (having a hard time catching all the dots is there a mesh recomendation for this size of dot?)
mesh count 200

Part of the problem the screen print technically looks good detail shows up well in the headlight grill and tire areas but the body of the car just looks washed out what can I do to improve the image or add contrast to the body of the car?

Thank you ahead of time for any information you provide,
Robert

If by 166 dpi you mean 166 lpi then those dots are too fine to print with that screen. Take your screen mesh and divide by 4 to figure out your lpi. A 200 mesh screen would give to a 50 lpi dot.

I'd agree, your mesh is too coarse, you need to do a few test prints.
The problem with index printing rather than halftones is that you don't lose just the smaller dots, you lose the entire image!
