New to Screen Printing - Need Help with Start Up Supplies

Post by Go Hooter Go »

Hello everyone,

I've decided to start up my own small business on the side making large wooden mascot/signs of Local High School Football Teams, and the only two things I need at the moment are a good place to find the following:

- A 150+ Mesh (At least 36" Wide)
- Purple Ink that is good for Wood

The Signs are going to be about 36" Tall by 24" Wide, and I'll be using the Mod Podge Glue, since I can not locally and cheaply get a Transparency Film made of the Image I am going to be using, and also I would rather use Emulsion and test the Exposures for littler projects that won't be as costly to begin or have a greater margin for error.

I am looking to get about 3-5 Yards of Mesh and 1 Quart of Ink, and hoping to keep it under around $70 Dollars, which I hope the website accepts Paypal, but that is not a must.

So, if you have any good websites that sell these products, please feel free to share them here.

Thanks,

The problem I see is that any vinyl or sign shop with a wide format
printer can do the sign in FULL COLOR!! for less than it would cost you in materials!!

Why screen it!?!?!?

Great idea 15 years ago!

Sorry to rain on your parade,
but call around and ask about pricing from local sign shops for the same size sign.

You'll be VERY disappointed!!

Almost NOTHING that size is screened anymore!.

There is a reason you can't find films that size.
Nobody needs them since the wide format printers became affordable.

You can get a Roland 54" for $25K and it will do photo reproductions to boot!
No screens and one offs like you are talking about require no set ups!!
