Buying Equipment for Screenprinting

Post by vickgould »

I'm a very very very very big newbie. I haven't even screenprinted anything yet, but am sure that I'm going to make it into a business. I'm waiting on my screenprinting kit to arrive, but I've already gotten my bamboo shirts that I want to do. My question is on making the stencils..... I thought I was going to cut them, but was told that that is very old school and that everyone does the photo emulsions instead. True? If so, then what are the needed supplies for that? I don't have a ton of money left after I bought the other supplies. I would prefer to make a light box myself -- if anyone has a homemade one I'd appreciate some advice on what to get to build it. Also, where is the best, most cost effective place to get the the stuff for it. If I understand correctly, the emulsion is put directly on the screen, right? So then I have to get a bunch of screens (?).

Thanks for your help.

You should search the forum for your light box ideas. There have been several posts about that subject in the past.

Good Luck
.... I can give you my opinion but I can't tell you if it's right or not.
