Screen sizes

Post by lordvicious »

sorry i'm back again with another newbie question.........

Could someone please explain this to me........

86 for puffs and athletic prints
125 for basic designs
156 for more intricate work
230 for detail and suedes and simulated process underbasing
305 for process and simulated process.

i understand you need different sized screens for different designs but what exactly are process and simulated process?

Thanks.

Your not talking screen size here, these are mesh counts, the higher the mesh count the better for fine detail work. The 305 is for halftones.

Halftones are not full colors, only half colors

if you wanted a grey color but only wanted to use black ink, you could use a halftone, so there would be gaps in the black ink to simulate a grey color, any time your printer prints out in black and white, no color, it uses halftones, all those dots are a halftone
