ART APPROVALS??!!

We are having a large company meeting in the morning about getting art approvals. We are having problems with customers waiting until the last second to approve their art, but still wanting their stuff on time.

What are your policies on art approvals?? Also, what is the process that you use?? Does the graphic artist get approvals, or does the sales person? Do you have a specific art approval form??

Any help would be great, just trying to come into this meeting with some ideas.

Thanks!

we tend to run into this issue a lot.

We tell are customers that there is a 2 week turnaround for basic designs and repeat customers.

1st week: we do the design and then call or email the customer to notify them the proof is ready.
2nd week: production (the clock doesn't start until the design has FINAL APPROVAL!)

If it takes them 2 weeks to approve the design... its going to take another week to produce the job.
Most of the time we print the shirts within 2 days of final design approval but we always have a week (just in case)

The best thing to do is to be UP FRONT with the customer.

As for who should contact the customer with the design.... Whomever has been working with the customer should continue to work with them.
If the job came from a sales person... it's their job to sell the customer the design.
If for some reason the sales person cant communicate the idea of the design then the customer should be directed to the artist.

Thats my take on things.
