What is the price for a custom logo?

Post by fusion06 »

I am in the process of purchasing a small screen printing and award shop. I feel like I am getting a good deal as I know and trust the current owners. However, about half of the purchase price is based on custom logo's. Is this standard?

Thanks

What you're referring to is the custom and existing
art for his current client base. Yes, a small shops value
could definitely be tied to the art files and customer lists.

$250 for ideas, developement, and several stles in different formats & sizes.
Less, if you provide a workable idea!

$250 per logo is what you're putting the value at?

If the client already has a workable idea- it can be $150 or much less, depending on its complexity.

We charge by the hour. It's really hard to based a price of a logo off an idea. We do know though that a logo will take a certain amount of time based of the information we obtain from the customer.

We charge by the project. Clients tend to give us a budget and we work within it. Logos can range from 50 to 300, depends on complexity, revisions, clarity of concept (or none at all), etc.

I think a few people have misunderstood the original post.

Fusion06 isn't looking for a logo to be designed - at least, that's how I read it.

Unless I'm mistaken, he's purchasing an existing screen printing business for X amount, and the majority of the purchase price is tied to existing art/files accumulated during the business's time under the previous owners.

I would have to agree with yaleteamsandtees - it's probably an extensive collection of designs with hours upon hours of time invested in them. Plus, many of these customers may be current clients who may re-use artwork (lawn care companies, for example), so even though the artwork may be several years old, it's still valuable to the company.

Thing is, no project is the same and every client differs. A designer can’t give an accurate quote until a design brief is in place, and that doesn’t happen until after talking.

The price varies depending on your design and business needs because Logo is something which is going to represent your brand for a long time.
