Screen printing shadow effects on t-shirts

Post by ckepley »

I work with Corel Draw and was wondering if anybody has any advice on methods used for printing shadow effects for lettering on t-shirts?

CorelDraw has a drop shadow effect which you can modify.
Then you need the right halftone/angle combination which you need to agree with your printer.

Yes, first make the shadow effect you want with your graphics program, then convert that shadow into a halftone pattern so it will print properly using only one screen. The smaller you make the dots in the halftone pattern, the finer the mesh of your screen will need to be. I'd suggest a halftone frequency of around 30-35 lines per inch using a 230 mesh screen (that's using Photoshop's bitmap settings, not sure if it's the same in CorelDraw).
